Sunday, July 23, 2023 - Laie Days Devotional
The Senior Missionaries were asked to sing a couple of songs for the Laie Days Devotional Al that was held in the Cannon Center. It was fun and we had some piano and ukulele accompaniment for How Firm a Foundation, the Handcart Song and our mission song -The Cause of Christ. Elder Archibald was the narrator.
(There is a lady on the front row, right in the middle, with a white dress and red shawl. Roger and I are standing just to the right of her. We are both singing and holding the ukulele music for the people beside us.)

Sat. July 22, 2023 - Under Construction !
We have so many things going wrong with this apartment that we live in! We try to tell the landlord about them and they don’t do anything. We offer to do the work and they don’t accept. But today, unbeknownst to us, they showed up to do some work on the deck and boards outside of the sliding door to our bedroom …something we hadn’t e en told them about!

Friday, July 21, 2023 - WATER AGAIN!!!!!
For the last 6 months the fountain in the plaza by the Visitor’s Center has been dry. The lights had quit working and they had to drain it to fix them. The trouble is, they didn’t have the parts and had to send off for them!! Of course, EVERYTHING takes a very long time in Hawaii. So there has been no water, no lights, no fountains. But now, they decided to re-fill the fountain until such time as they can get all the parts . When they do, they will have to drain it again, fix the lights, clean the fountain, then re-fill it.
We have really missed that working fountain!!!!

Tuesday July 11, 2023 - Another power outage!
It is always fun during a power outage. We can only use the front Christus room since the huge windows let in enough light. But we cannot let anyone go to the back…too dark, or use the restrooms, since the pump that moved the sewage up the hill to the waste station is electric. So we cannot flush the toilets. Today, the President was holding a mission training in one of our theaters when the lights went out. So he just moved everyone into the front Christus room.
Monday, July 10, 2023 - The Garden
You know that Roger loves to garden. He really missed it the first summer we were here. So this year he decided to just have one tomato plant. He wanted to plant it in a big ceramic pot and put it on our deck, but he decided the pots were too expensive. (So typical). So, he bought a Home Depot bucket, drilled holes in the bottom, filled it with potting soil and planted and staked his tomato. Our neighbors downstairs also got one, but theirs blew over and almost died, so Roger took it up to our deck and tried to resurrect it.
Sunday, July 9, 2023- combined!
During the summer, they combine our Young Single Adult wards. We now meet with the 11th, 12th, and 14th wards. It is nice because, even though we still meet at 9am, we were moved to the big Stake Center chapel on campus. A real chapel again! So fun! In Relief Society we did something unexpected, but wonderful! We all stood, held hands and recited the RS theme.
Friday, July 7, 2023 - fun times

Tuesday, July 4, 2023- Happy July the 4th !
We started the day with a very welcome picture of Zach. He had surgery on his knee on June 30 and this picture of him standing with his crutches in meant he was doing a whole lot better. He really tore up his knee and he has all the stitches to prove it!
LtoR- Jim and Shari Craghead, Kelly and James Mason, and Stacy Duncan- in the other district
Sadly, after only 3 minutes of fireworks, they suddenly stopped! We found out later that some of the stands that held the fireworks fell over and was shooting fireworks into dangerous places, so they had to shut down the whole show! Bummer!d
