You know that Roger loves to garden. He really missed it the first summer we were here. So this year he decided to just have one tomato plant. He wanted to plant it in a big ceramic pot and put it on our deck, but he decided the pots were too expensive. (So typical). So, he bought a Home Depot bucket, drilled holes in the bottom, filled it with potting soil and planted and staked his tomato. Our neighbors downstairs also got one, but theirs blew over and almost died, so Roger took it up to our deck and tried to resurrect it.
Several weeks later, we discovered that with all the salt and wind here, nothing grows very well. We have gotten a few small tomatoes, but they are ver thick skinned and smaller than a full sized tomato should be. Roger has begun bringing the plants inside at night hoping to avoid the big winds and so much salt…but it hasn’t made a ton of difference! Rats!
