Transfer day is always fun for us! We had 9 new sisters come. This means 18 new muumuus must be made ready. I met with Sr. Bushman and Sr. Dahlin (who works in the PCC Seamstress area, but agreed to come and help us! Thankfully) Getting the muumuus ready is quite the process. 1- choose size and they try them on. 2- measure 4” up from the floor and pin around the bottom of muumuu. 3- they take them off and we measure 2” down from the original pin and cut off excess material. ( they come quite long from the company in Honolulu we get them from. It is a patented fabric and design so that they don’t sell anything like ours in their store) 4- we iron and turn the hem up, ready to be sewn. We hem them with a hem stitch on the machine so that it is faster. After the initial measuring, I brought 10 home to finish hemming on the machine at our apt. Sr. Dahlin let me borrow her machine.

Tues. Aug. 23- The miracle of the muumuus
I know many of you know how hard it has been getting to see because of my Macular Degeneration. The miracle occurred here because through all ten I could see to sew just fine! It is a little tricky because that stitch that goes off to the left should just barely catch the fabric., otherwise it makes a really large, stitch you can see on the front. So, I had to be able to see this fine line to sew so that the stitches didn’t show a lot on the front side! It truly was a miracle! Normally, I lose a letter or numbers in a sequence because they are so small and certain areas of my vision are blocked, but not today! I was sooooo thankful! Next transfer we get 11 sisters in, so we will be doing a lot again! I am praying that the miracle of the Muumuus will happen again for me!
