Sat. Feb. 4, 2023 - Devotional, hike, and Transfer News

Interesting and busy day today….again dodging the rain! We started off with a devotional for all the Seniors over at the PCC. Today it was the island of Hawaii doing the devotional.

They always have several of the student do dances and sing, but today they chose some older Hawaiians from the community.

At the end, they gave us each a handmade ornament! With dried coconut leaves folded into roses and Kukui nuts.

Of course, right toward the end it started to blow and rain really hard and the power went out! So, the closing song/ musical number was a little different than planned, but it was still good! However, getting to the car in the downpour was tricky. Wonderful Roger, ran through the rain, to the parking lot and got the car and brought it close to the gate so Misty and I wouldn’t get so wet! He, however, was SOAKED!!!!
After going home and changing, the sun came out! So, we made a picnic lunch and decided to hike up to Makapu’u Lighthouse Point. Misty and Dad were kind enough to go slow for me.  We didn’t get to see any whales though, even tho this is the time of the year when you usually would.

We came home and had to go to work, so Misty went to the beach again. Later that night she came over to the VC to see how we do Transfers, and see an Aloha Oe for the sisters going home- where each person gets to say goodbye and put a lei around their neck! So many leis by the end of the night!
