Happy Father's Day to the world’s BEST father - Roger Eugene Mahaffey ! For his present I gave him two ties. The dark blue one has Polynesian symbols and designs on it. The white and blue tie was designed by our security guard at the center- Tyler Brown. Notice the Laie temple in the middle of the Hawaiian designs.
A nice memory for him to take home! Later that evening, we went to a special fireside. Back in August, the cast and crew of the new Book of Mormon Videos came here to Gunstock Ranch to film the Hellman and the 2000 Stripling Warrior scenes. The used a lot of people from the community (sine the Stripling Warriors were supposed to be around 13-15) and BYU Hawaii students to play the armies of the Lamanites and Antipus. We got to hear from several of the young men in the cast, and Chris Ahsu who played Helaman.
We also heard from the producer, Aaron Merrill. It was great to get a behind-the-scenes look from him.
Lastly, he played the video for us. It was almost completely ready, but not quite. It was so good!!!
They will probably be releasing them to the general public in early 2024. And, they will be in about 50 different languages!!!! Amazing!
It was so tender watching those mothers let their children go to fight in the war…those same women and men who had made an oath not to fight their brothers the Lamanites and buried their weapons of war.
