The first thing you see when you walk into our Visitor’s Center is a huge statue of the Christus. We try to tell people that we don’t worship the statue, but we worship the man, Jesus Christ. Many do not realize we are Christian. The original statue by Bertel Thorvaldsen is in The Church of Our Lady in Copenhagen Denmark, but almost every visitor’s center has one that has been recreated in marble.
I Love how in our VC the painting on the wall behind is in lighter blues and green …ocean colors. The one is Salt Lake was very dark blues and purples…made to look like space. One thing that we tell people is to look at the earth painted on the left, and bright light colors, depicting heaven on the right.
And, the only way to get from one to the other is thru Jesus Christ who is in the middle. We usually play a 90 second narration of scriptures where Jesus Christ bears witness of himself.
It is such a wonderful reminder every single day of in whose service we are!
