So, the President has put us in charge of overseeing the Teaching Center. There are only 5 in the world- SLC, Mexico City, Sat Paulo Brazil, London England, and here. This is where the sisters serve a 2-hr. Shift at the computer. It is similar to a call center. They answer questions from Facebook chats, Come Unto Christ.org, and our mission Ohana Facebook page. They may actually talk to people, or do it all online. We are amazed at how much people reach ou with questions and want information. Our sisters do a lot of teaching, in many languages, here. They have so much success, many lessons and baptisms. Even when they turn the people over to the missionaries in their own area, our sisters continue to keep up with them and join lessons virtually.

Monday, Sept. 26, 2022- Be Prepared!
We have 4 rooms like the one above in our teaching center, so up to 8 companionships can be working in there at the same time. Lately, we have also had to do some maintenance there…and by we I mean Elder Mahaffey. He had to plung a backed up toilet, install a new doorknob on the bathroom when one sister got locked in there because the lock failed, and fix the showers in each of the 2 bathrooms! Of course it is a group effort, because Elder Mahaffey cannot go in there alone with all the sisters, so I have to go too!
We have spent a lot of time there recently and gotten to know several plumbers and electricians too well!
President has also put us in charge of Emergency preparedness. Our first work was to organize all the emergency backpacks. We had to find out what was in each sister’s bag (which they were already given),
Get backpacks to the Elders who didn’t have any, organize and inventory the remaining backpacks, and now are ready to order all the missing items for everyone’s backpacks. We store the extras I. The back room of the Teaching Center.
We also developed a small, clear plastic luggage tag that we will add to each pack with a list of items they should add at the last minute if they are ever evacuated.
When we have new sisters come to our mission they spend the first night in a group apartment 115. We now are responsible for that apartment too. That means that we will do all the washing of the sheets and towels after the new incoming leave to go with their trainers, then re-make all the beds. This transfer we have 10 coming in. Apt, 115 will only hold 6, so we are having to put the other 4 in the Teaching Center on blow-up air mattresses. That is the reason Elder Mahaffey was having to work so hard to get the showers in each bathroom in the TC working. One did it have any hot water and he found out that only 1 of the bathrooms was connected to a hot water heater! So, that meant he had to get a new water heater for the other bathroom. Of course, after it was installed, the plumber said…you know, there is no electricity to this water heater! So,we had to get an electrician to come. Usually things like this go VERY SLOWLY in Hawaii, but we got this relatively fast. However, the electrician came when we were out of town on our Pday' AGGGHHH!!! It has been very interesting! Here is one of the rooms in 115 for the new incoming
Sisters!
