Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022- Rainbow House for Shave Ice

While we worked today, the Monroes went on a boat to go whale and dolphin watching and snorkeling .

When they came home we went for a treat ! The Sanders had sent us money to take them all out for Shave Ice for their Christmas present. And yes, I typed that correctly…it is SHAVE ICE not with a D…SHAVED ICE. I am not sure why…that is just the way it is here. We went to Rainbow House. We love them because they are close and they give missionaries a 50% discount!!! First they put a scoop of ice cream in the bowl - then the shave ice all over that- then what ever flavor syrup,,,you can choose up to 3- then they put sweetened condensed milk over the top of all that! It is delicious!

The Young’s came over and gave their favorite MTC teachers an Aloha plaque to take home.

Monday, Dec. 26 - Hidden Beach

We have a lovely beach here called Hidden Beach. You park on the road, then bike in a short way to the beach. It is. It very crowded and it is wonderful.  Everyone wanted to snorkel here today.

Papa, Tanner and I and Kaden just sat on the beach near the water…and sometimes Devon

Got some great shots of swimming with the turtles….

Sunday, Dec. 25 - Christmas Day in Hawaii

HAD to start off the day with our traditional stair shot: with a little Shaka influence

No stockings, but still got the goodies!!!

Ashlyn was SANTA

Opening our presents…..I got 2 nativities! I loved it!  One from the Monroes…from Tahiti

And one from the Mahaffeys…a puzzle!

Dad scored with an Electric fly swatter/ bug zapper!

And he loved the ukulele …it was bigger than mine and his fingers could work better on it!

So, I got mine out and we did a quick rendition of You are my sunshine! Ha!  (With a lot of pauses whenever we had to change chords!!!)

We opened beautiful pictures from Misty and Lindsay!!!

We gave all the men in our family the same BYU-H ties

Then we got to talk to Trevor in Italy!!!

And all the rest of the family….

Then it was time to get ready for church! Austin decided he wanted to try to wear Papa’s Sulu.
He started like this….
But,  by church time we had him looking like this….
Even Ashlyn got into the Hawaiian look…

We meet on the campus of BYU-H in the David O McKay Auditorium…so we took some shots

Then we came home and walked out onto Laie Point to see the big waves crashing…

Later that night the mission hosted a big Christmas dinner for all the missionaries, young and old. We were told that since it was Sunday that we didn’t have to wear a shirt and tie, but to come in Aloha wear. Since the guys didn’t have that, they borrowed a couple from Papa.

We had a sing along with the ukulele people…lead by Sister Bleak

Tanner was thrilled because he would get to see all the people he had taught in the MTC! So, we got as many of them together as we could and took a picture of all of them with Tanner.
